top tip for new gif people because i've seen a few recently (which is really cool) - tumblr will compress your gif to a width of 540px when you upload it. this compression won't retain as much quality as if you just resize it to 540px across in photoshop/whatever program you use. tumblr will suck the life out of your beautiful crisp 1080px gif whereas photoshop will do its best not to (resizing in vapoursynth or similar is ideal but that's not necessary and often too much effort for adults with real lives)

#i learnt all of this during covid as a teen with a sunday job so that's why i could afford to care #also 540px is if you've got one gif per row #2 gifs per row should be resized to a width of 268px each #and 3 per row is 177px - 178px - 177px #height doesn't matter #you can google tumblr gif dimensions for a diagram but there are a few from before they increased the width in photo posts so lots of #conflicting info there #these are the correct ones #it's personal preference whether to resize ofc but the vast majority of people do #also whilst i'm yapping here #photoshop can do stuff that other software or online platforms can't #obviously use whichever one you prefer or have access to - it really doesn't matter #the more gifs the better #yay #but if there's something you've seen other people do that you can't figure out #and you're not using photoshop #chances are the other person is.#there are good alternatives like photopea but that still doesn't quite match ps #saying this bc i had a small phase of being quite discouraged as a 17yo md/zs fan from looking at all the online options and realising that #none of them had the capabilities to create the kind of gfx that i saw other people making and wanted to try out myself #ofc there's a learning curve too and LOTS to get wrong then try again but there is also the insurmountable difference between ps and #online alternatives. i hope it doesn't put people off from trying #keep at it with whatever program you've got your hands on #and if you really want photoshop. well. cough 🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️🏴‍☠️ cough #excuse me what was i saying #i cant remember bye have fun

If you told me this was how TI-83 binaries were structured, I would have straight up thought you were lying. JIT assembled from plaintext hex opcodes?--that can't be true. Maybe TI put that in the manual as a practical joke and nobody noticed.

Look at this stupid-ass hexdump. Every fucking byte of this file from 0x004B to 0x13C0 is either '0', '1', '2', '3', '4', '5', '6', '7', '8', '9', 'A', 'B', 'C', 'D', 'E', or 'F'.

This program is anti-compressed. Every byte of machine code is encoded as two bytes of plaintext characters.

Why would you ever do that. Why would you want your executable to stored as plaintext hex digits. It's certainly not for ease-of-editing--the file-initial "AsmPrgm" token (BBh 6Ch) prevents you from opening the file in the onboard editor--and it's definitely not for program integrity checking either. So why on Earth did TI think this was the move to make?

Baffling and upsetting. Thank god the execution model permits self-modifying and self-extracting compressed programs.

idk if it's because my mum worked in a tv magazine or what but all the media wars and backstabbing and stuff happening behind the cameras is so so interesting to me

#just saw what happened yesterday in la revuelta ojalá se muera el enano pelirrojo #so for non-spaniards here's a crash course on the situation (i could do a post about media groups in spain cause it's a lot)#there's this one late night show that's been on air for about 15 years called el hormiguero #it started fine (i used to watch it with my family when it started)#but soon there were some issues that people were seeing #especially concerning the presenter (who's also the head ofthe show) pablo motos #and his attitude with female guests he'd interview #basically being very weird and gross around them #apart from that in the last year he started to get very political in the show #he invited right and far right leaders while refusing to do so with the left wing #started making monologues at the beginning of each show critizising stuff the left had done or said #and finally included a debate segment in the show in which he invited liked-minded people to discuss politics #this has directly affected his audience. my dad is a fan of el hormoguero and i've seen him turn more right wing every year #so. last summer RTVE (national broadcast company) announced they were gonna do a late night show presented by david broncano #it's hard to describe everything here but basically broncano already had a late show called la resistencia in a streaming platform #it has always been very popular with young people and it is quite left wing #the new program made by RTVE was called la revuelta. it is exactly the same as la resistencia #before it started airing people were sceptic that broncano would be able to defeat motos' hegemony #BUT. ever since it started aiting in september it has consistently been getting more audience than el hormiguero #who would've known people were tired of the redhead bastard #anyways. apart from this. different celebrities on ppdcasts have been saying that in order to promote their product they are forced to go #to el hormiguero even of they didn't want to #there's also rumours of pablo motos blackmailing people (mostly comedians) who make fun of him #and now to what happened last night. i don't watch tv so i just saw it on twitter #broncano opened the show saying that they were sorty but they had no guest tonight #they had this one person but 30 minutes before shooting the people from el hormiguero had called him #he was originally going to go both to la revuelta and el hormiguero #but the guys from el hormiguero called him to tell him that if he went to la revuelta he couldn't go to el hormiguero #el hormiguero is bigger than la revuelta so. he had to cancel #broncano went on to say this had happened before and that's why he was talking about it

Version 1.18 has a name “Duckling”. And it is dedicated to duckling. And theme of countryside and summer. So, a positive. For this time, it is 4 new games. Puddles at the Countryside, Duckling Pseudo 3D, Road at Countryside, Duckling Goes 2D.

Summer games. For good mood and positive! Funny ducklings are running! Big and small! It is so fun! And how cool to have a walk after the little rain! And about a road to a countryside - it is whole adventure! And duckling is running and jumping!

And one more thing, there is here a game about a big doing quack-quack duckling! There is sound! He speaks quack-quack! And runs by the field and water. And he collects duckling-coins!

This time I do programming with QB64. It is modern version of QBasic.

#well okay part of it may have been the built-in program i mostly used to associate an album cover #but i didn't know it wouldn't differentiate track vs. album artist and just erase half the work #whateverrrrrr that part really only mattered for one disc but can we not.#and now the listening platform is acting like the tracks are wonky but granted it may still be processing them

What platform do you use to draw?? It looks so well and pretty.

Hello!! I actually use PaintTool SAI which is QUITE an old program that definitely does not have a lot of features that other art platforms now offer! I'm very stubborn and have been using it for the past 8/9 years haha although I've been meaning to get more comfortable with using Procreate on my iPad! I'm not sure if I would necessarily reccomend it over other programs but thats the one I'm most familiar with!

#I've tried other programs but they always feel so different #I gotta practice on other platforms honestly hahaha

Me going into that interview powered-up from all the luck and well-wishes from my family and friends like:

#i talk #job talk #I think it went really well!#Despite my body and brain self-sabotaging me by keeping me up until like... 3:30 am last night #The biggest mark against me is the fact that I don't have tons of experience managing a specific program platform #but I (a bit belatedly) reminded them that I have tons of experience doing website management (including our company's website)#so maybe that helps???#There were 3 interviewers which would've been stressful (even if that seems to be the norm now) but I knew all of them #Like. I don't know them SUPER well but I DO know them. As in we've all met and there's no bad blood or anything #So that helped a LOT #Me on my hands and knees like: Please let this be a nepotism hire I need a better paying job so frickin bad #It's hilarious (but mostly extremely depressing) how the first interview I've gotten in YEARS after hundreds of job applications—#—is only because it's for a job at a company I already work for. What a mess. And I have almost 10 years of experience in my field #Anyways. It was a virtual interview but I still put makeup on so A) They don't see how dead I look #and because B) My eyeliner really makes my expressions more visible #I actually never wore eyeliner until I started teaching online during the peak of the pandemic / lockdown #I made the same discovery that my eyeliner really makes my expressions more visible and I look friendlier #Which I think helped since my students were all Going through It (I mean; we all were; but good god lockdown was bad for the kids)#So now I just kinda always wear eyeliner when I do makeup. I could probably do it thinner but I'm too lazy to re-learn it #Makeup is an expensive art form but I admire anyone who is dedicated to the practice. It's really cool seeing people do it!#Anyhoo back to work #gif warning

The famous Teen Author Boot Camp program is EXPANDING!!!

I've attended events put on by Operation Literacy since I was a teenager, and I'm honored to be one of their Youth Outreach Interns this year! The switch from Teen Author Boot Camp to StoryCon is an exciting one, but we guarantee it's only more of what you've already grown to love from our organization!

StoryCon has tracks for all ages; we're taking the teen programs that are so beloved, and adding things for the general public, for educators, and for tweens! There are also masterclasses, a massive expo hall, and a main stage celebrating story in its many forms. Come join the party at the Salt Palace, February 21-22, 2025!

One of the largest book events ever to come to Utah, StoryCon is a writing conference and fan expo put on by Operation Literacy, a 501c3 nonprofit with a special emphasis in serving kids from under-served populations. Every ticket purchased helps provide access for more young writers and readers.

Well, as for me, I can to go, from the first attempt, to level 4. Diagonal enemy, makes a big serious element of dynamics into the game! So, from the first time, it is hard to go far! It is good to be more carefully!

Total, 9 levels. And, there are calm levels. And, there are dynamical levels.

Menus are with text form. Retro effect. Green color.

And color specter. 15 colors. And, it is counts all of hits for block for level and for all the game time. And in result it is a color specter!

Redesigned the difficulty icons. Each tier of difficul-tea is based on hot drinks getting more caffinated. Starting from a babychino and building up to the espresso hard mode.

The Babychino/ accessibility mode will have the time limit for levels removed so players who struggle with the controls can enjoy the game without any obstacles

Carmile Chill/ Easy mode gives the player more time and reduces AI health

I also have plans for a hard mode called 'Espresso' that will focus on having less time but more opportunities to generate time, like your taking shots of espresso.

Seems very fitting to have a themed difficulty system for a sewing game
